Mike Federali is the founder and owner of Incredible Conventions, a Virginia-based event company dedicated to creating family-friendly conventions and collector events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

What began as a passion for comics, collectibles, and fandom has grown into one of the largest independently owned convention companies in Virginia. Through Incredible Conventions, Mike and his team produce events that bring together fans, artists, creators, celebrities, vendors, cosplayers, gamers, and collectors for unforgettable experiences.

Mike’s philosophy has always been simple: build the kind of event he would want to attend himself. That means affordable admission, diverse guest lineups, strong exhibitor support, and a focus on creating great experiences for both fans and exhibitors.

Over the years, Mike has helped launch, grow, and manage numerous conventions across the United States. In 2025, to spend more time with his wife and two children, Mike sold Nashville Comicon and Superstar Comic Con to GalaxyCon. While stepping away from those events, he remained committed to expanding Incredible Conventions and continuing to serve the communities that helped build the company.

At the request of exhibitors, venues, and attendees, Mike developed Virginia Card Shows, a dedicated division of Incredible Conventions focused on trading cards, collectibles, and hobby culture. Applying many of the same innovations that helped grow his comic conventions—including celebrity guests, interactive attractions, vendor diversity, fan engagement initiatives, and large-scale prize giveaways—Virginia Card Shows quickly established itself as one of the premier collector event brands in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Today, Incredible Conventions produces comic conventions, anime conventions, and collector events that welcome tens of thousands of fans each year. Whether it’s a first-time attendee discovering a new hobby, an artist meeting future fans, or a family creating lasting memories together, the goal remains the same: build events that people are excited to attend year after year.

Why do we offer free tickets but still require registration?

There are a number of reasons we ask attendees to register, even when admission is free:

1. Safety & Security
   Registration helps us identify attendees and exhibitors and provides an added layer of security for the event. It also helps us address issues involving bad actors, banned individuals, or emergency situations.

2. Communication
   If there are important updates, schedule changes, guest announcements, parking information, or weather-related notices, we have a way to reach attendees directly.

3. Future Promotions
   When fans register, we can let them know about upcoming shows and special announcements. Instead of spending marketing dollars trying to find the same audience repeatedly, we can invest those resources into reaching new fans and growing the event.

4. Attendance Planning
   Registration gives us a better estimate of how many people will be attending, which helps with staffing, security, seating, crowd flow, and venue planning.

5. Prizes & Giveaways
   Knowing our expected attendance helps us determine the appropriate number of raffle prizes, giveaways, promotional items, and other attendee perks. It allows us to budget appropriately and ensure we have enough prizes for the crowd.

6. Guest & Sponsor Support
   Attendance numbers help us attract celebrity guests, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners. Being able to demonstrate audience size allows us to continue improving the show.

7. Venue Requirements
   Many venues require attendance estimates and crowd management plans. Registration helps us meet those requirements and provide a better experience for everyone.

8. Faster Entry
   Pre-registration allows attendees to check in more quickly and spend less time waiting in line.

9. Understanding Our Audience
   Registration data helps us learn what types of events, guests, vendors, and activities fans are interested in so we can make future shows even better.

At the end of the day, registration helps us keep the event safe, organized, and growing—while still allowing fans to attend completely free of charge.
